beware of the dragon

The question everyone seem to ask me lately. Well for now HOME in Stockholm doing nothing but boring laundry, cleaning, painting my nails, meeting friends for coffee, having Sushi with my sister, buying flight tickets, meeting up with BetSafe, sorting out my company, taking long baths, hanging out with my brother, moving boxes and just enjoying doing nothing for a change. 😉

“Pretty fly for a WiFi” 

Been spending the day out at the place where Froggy holds its summer camps with a lot of people learning to wakeboard or developing their riding. We’ve had such a fun day with a mixture of rain and sunshine but plenty of stoke. 3 boats, one world champion jetskier and lots of boarding and surfing. I stuck my tootsie first try so I was really happy about that and Tom, one of my team rider friends got his krypt back. We finished late (since the sun sets so late here) and came back from surfing around 11 pm. Then a massive BBQ and now bed! Got to say the best part of the day was when Erik tried on my old wetsuit… 😉

Too much partying! I can feel my body getting destroyed after wakestock and now Båstad. I’ve had such a sick time and now I’m driving up to Linköping to ride with the crew my beloved boardstore Froggy. I have to stop like every hour to not fall asleep though, I can’t wait to get back into training, sleeping and eating well. Who would have thought 😉

So I drove the 6 hours down to the swedish tennis week in Båstad. It’s pretty well known as a summer party place. The first thing that happened after I found the crew was that my team manager from BetSafe hugs the crap out of me. I was happy until I realized he was covered in champagne and after fighting him for a bit I came away with a soaking O’Neill Hoodie. I spent the next 30 minutes observing everyone, who by this time were completely wasted since there was an After Beach Party going on.  After everyone stumbled out of Peppes Bodega (the name of the place) I got asked the question “Carro, are you sober enough to drive?”. Since I hadn’t had anything to drink at all I said yes. “Okay cool, hey guys!! Carro can drive the Lambo back home” was the next comment. So I ended up getting the keys thrown to me and drove it home.

I can’t believe 3 months has gone by. It’s been so fast and I’ve definitely had one of the sickest times of my life. Been so sad packing up all my stuff since it means that I’m leaving Andres, Becky, Mason, Matt, Debbie and DC; the incredible staff of Extreme Gene. Had my last boat set last night in the sunset on glassy water and then a paella dinner. (Now it sounds like I’m leaving forever but technically I’m planning on going back in 4 weeks)

Now it’s time for new adventures as I head for wakestock. Right now in Manchester Airport waiting for Trudi to land. To be honest I’m a bit nervous about the contest since I haven’t thought about competitions in so long. I’m stoked to meet up with the other riders who I haven’t seen in ages like the British shredders Jules, Charlotte and Sian. I have a feeling it’s going to be a sick week! (Even though I have to get used to the temperature change and riding in a wetsuit again)

Can’t describe how happy I am right now! Whirlybird is one of the two tricks I dreamt about landing when I started wakeboarding, about 7 years ago! Today I managed to do it so that makes it my first invert with a full twist. DC dragged me out of bed to go for a morning ride, I let him ride first and when I got on the water I was pretty much still asleep. I fell on so many of my basic tricks that I decided to just throw it and on my 5th go I kept riding. I couldn’t really believe that I was still standing and just screamed a little girly scream. So happy right now!

For you who don’t know what a whirly is I googled it and picked the first video that shows it. Here you go:

Oh and this as well means that the bet is cancelled out! I don’t have to ride in only my bikini att Chill N Ride! Yewww! (:

Today I fully came around on my whirly and landed with the handle! My only problem: I landed short on top of the other wake and  fell. This was on my 10th attempt and this trick really takes it out of me so I had to take a break after that. I only have tomorrow left to land it so now I am faced with the dilemma of going out in town and enjoying my last saturday night here or to go to sleep early and work fully on it tomorrow. Unfortunately it’s leaning towards the later option since I really dont want to ride in bikini bottoms at Chill N Ride. Stupid bet!
